Festivals and Celebrations

What a fantastic week we’ve had in Primary 2/3! Our context for learning this term is ‘Festivals and Celebrations’ where we will be learning about important cultural and religious events around the world! This week, we were learning about Halloween and the history behind this spooky day! We learned that in the olden days, Halloween was a Christian festival known as ‘Hallow’s Eve’ and people used to dress up in scary costumes to scare away any evil spirits. Pumpkins and turnips were hollowed out and made into Jack o’Lanterns which were also used to ward off any spirits! We made our own Jack o’Lanters out of paper plates – here we are showing off our hard work!
