IDL – sports week

Last week, our IDL focus was on Inspirational Sports Women. We worked with P7 Rm 18 to create a Venn Diagram about the sports in the Commonwealth Games. We sorted the sports into those played by men, women and both men and women. It was interesting to find out that there are no sports played by men only but Netball was played by women only in the 2018 Commonwealth games.

We were looking at the Commonwealth Games because we focused our learning on two local athletes, Kelsey Stewart and Zoey Clark who travelled to and raced in the Gold Coast last year. We were so lucky to have Kelsey come in to school and talk to us about her sporting career. She answered LOADS of our questions and was a very inspirational speaker; She started running and racing when she was in P4 and through her hard work she has completed a course at University whilst competing!
