g for grapes, l for lollipops, tricky words, 2D shapes, adding 2 numbers, drawing club and Remembrance day in Room 4! 9-13th Nov.
Last week we learned to recognise and form two new letter sounds- g and l. We used fingerprints and paper circles to make grapes, and used tissue paper to create yummy looking lollipops! We have also been exploring and playing with other letters in various ways around the classroom and outside.
We learned some tricky words – a at and it. Tricky words mean we have to learn and remember just by looking at them – this is called ‘sight vocabulary’. We are still learning to build CVC words (consonant vowel consonant – eg. cat) by listening out for the initial, middle and end sound and then writing the letters in the correct order.
We are also learning to read CVC words and are continuing to read in a group twice a week with Miss Steel or Miss Bruce.
In Maths we were learning about 2D shapes, focusing on the properties of circles, triangles, rectangles and squares. We were learning all about addition and extended our learning by writing number sentences – eg. 2 + 3 = 5
Have a look at us exploring all about numbers, counting, patterns, shapes and adding in the photos below.
Sabrina’s shapes!
It was Remembrance Day and so we created some poppy pictures, using apples and paint to print. We also held a 2 minute silence in class! We have started drawing club in class so each week some children come and create some amazing works of art, and sometimes they even write some words to explain what’s happening in their picture.
