Festival and celebrations

What an excellent start to the term P1/2! This week we have discussed our context for learning which is ‘Festivals and Celebrations’. You came up with some fantastic ideas for our learning including parades and celebrations that mean something to you, like moving home. We were all excited about Halloween and have been learning about estimation by guessing the amounts of seeds in our three pumpkins 🎃. We also had a turnip which some of us were surprised to see it had no seeds and would be much harder to carve. Through play we made our own wands and came up with our own spells thinking of rhyming words. We developed our fine motor skills by cutting and sorting the lifecycle of a pumpkin and some of us completed our first word searches using our ‘ay’ sound.

Today we had the opportunity to carve our own pumpkins developing our motor skills by cutting and scooping and enjoyed some spooky cosmic yoga.
