P1/2 Place value, pattern and shape

This week during phonics we have been learning about r and discussing things that begin with r like 🚀🤖🌈 and have been using a variety of shapes to create our pictures. We are able to identify a range of 2D shapes and even an octagon! The p2s have also been learning how to practise their “ai” words by creating pyramid writing.

In maths we have been using shapes to make numbers 1 to 6, developing our understanding of place value with larger numbers by using tens and ones. We have also investigated fact families (our little houses) and are beginning to see the relationship between addition and subtraction.

We had Miss Buckley visit the class to teach us about helicopter stories to help with our writing. This was fantastic fun and we shared some amazing stories!
