Hilton Woods – “wee green space”
Nursery Three have visited Hilton Woods for the last five weeks where there has been lots of opportunities for the children to learn outdoors in a natural environment in a variety of weather. The children have seen the changes each week in the woods with the seasons changing from Spring to Summer. The nursery children have touched, smelled, heard and seen the beauty of nature and have taken risks along the way while exploring the rocks, making dens, swinging on branches and jumping in muddy puddles. We have all enjoyed homemade snacks and banana bread made by Mrs. Mitchell from primary one. The highlight of our visits has been making a fire in the woods with the expertise of Mandy Tulloch from mud pies. She was able to advise us on safety and following the woodland guidance on lighting fires in the woods. All this outdoor learning would not be possible without the help of parents who have read stories, helped with Den making and hand washing during our adventures. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the parents for their continued enthusiastic support.
