In nursery we have been learning about floating and sinking. One of the children noticed that a sponge can float then once it soaks up the water it will then sink to the bottom of the water tray. “It can do both things”said Joshua. The children went around the nursery selecting items to drop into the water and guessing if it would float or sink.

 

Magnets

The nursery children have been exploring magnets and their properties. They have discovered a selection of items that are magnetic e.g the blades of the scissors, paper clips also the triangle musical instrument.

Experimenting with colour

The children have also experimented with mixing food colouring and finding out what colours they can make. They have used pipettes  and slide dishes showing how good their fine motor skill are and their knowledge of colours.
