Active learning in Room 6 👀🧠

This week in room 6 we have been busy learning about properties of 2D shapes and have also been looking at identifying 3D shapes in our environment. We know that 3D shapes are fat and 2D shapes are flat. We spent some time going on a shape hunt to identify where would could see 2D and 3D shapes in our class and corridor.  We then worked with a partner to pull a 2D shape out of the magic maths bag and identify how many sides and corners they had. Next week we will be moving onto 3D shape names and properties.

We have also been learning about nouns in class. We know that a noun is a naming word. It names a person, place or thing. We spent time brainstorming nouns. We then used flash card sentences and had to circle the noun in the sentence with a partner. Afterwards, we had a set of nouns and had to work independently to sort them into whether they were a person, place or thing. We did amazingly well!
