Learning in room 6 with a woosh, pop and sparkle 🎆🎇
This week has been a busy and creative one in room 6. We have started our new topic and have been learning about Diwali. We created our own rangoli patterns and diya’s just like ones used during Diwali celebrations.
We have also been learning about Guy Fawkes and why fireworks are set on November 5th. We spend time discussing how we stay safe around bonfires and fireworks and also about looking after pets. We spent some of our independent learning time creating our own chalk and glitter themed art work!
We even spent some time learning about the difference between migration and hibernation. We chose an animal to draw for each category.
In math, we have been focusing on practical addition this week. We have been using practical materials to help us calculate totals up to 20! Some of us even tried working out missing add ons (12 + = 19).
Our phonics work this week has included phoneme stories, roll and read and even some real and nonsense sorting. Lots of practice is important.
We have also been developing our listening skills and team work with Lee at RADS.
All of this alongside the rest of our learning!
