As part of our new topic, “Let’s explore Cornhill!”, Room 7 began their inquiry by looking at different maps and their features. There was much discussion about the perspective with which a map is drawn and the meaning of symbols included. The class worked in pairs to examine two maps and set each other challenges of finding different landmarks on them.
This then inspired a group of our Primary 3’s to create an aerial view of our school and surrounding area with Lego. Our next step is to label it and add a key.
Next week we plan to go on a walk of our local area, which will allow us to develop a better awareness of how our local area is set out and its main features.
