Amazing Animal Pinch Pots

image

For the last two weeks of primary six we decided to make something called a pinch pot. First of all we had to sketch an idea of what animal we were going to do on a piece of paper. Our teacher gave us a chunk of clay each and we did a rough idea of what our pot was going to look like. A few days after we started making the real thing. It was quite hard.  To make the pinch pot you had to roll the bit of clay into a ball and make a hole in the middle and make it quite deep next you had to put your thumb in and pinch around the sides. You had to make sure the clay was flat and smooth and had no cracks, if it wasn’t smooth enough it would have cracks when it dried. After we made sure it was smooth we started to put different parts of the animal that we chose earlier on in the week onto it.

Then we left it in the sun and came back to it in a day or two. We painted our pinch pots and Miss Hogg varnished them to stop the paint chipping and to make them shiny.
